SCSU Men's Basketball Falls To Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. - Southern Connecticut men's basketball took an 86-62 loss at Bentley in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Waltham, Mass. With the loss, Southern drops to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play while Bentley improves to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in NE10 play. 

Sean James led Southern with 13 points after converting on 3-of-7 from three-point range. Marty Silvera added 11 points as well as five assists and two steals. Kazell Stewart finished with seven points and eight rebounds as well as a block while Ulyen Coleman tallied eight points and five rebounds with four assists.

Bentley opened the game with a 14-3 run before Southern responded with a 7-4 answer to get the game back down to single digits, 18-10, with 11:01 to play in the first half. Bentley outscored the Owls, 21-14 over the next 10 minutes, to take a 39-21 lead before Jahlijah Grant scored five straight points to end the half and cut Bentley's lead to 13, 39-26. 

Bentley opened the second half with a 19-11 edge to take its largest lead of the game, 21 points at 58-37 with 13 minutes to play. A layup by Cherif Diarra and a three-pointer by Sean James pulled the Owls to within 14. Bentley then rolled on an 18-3 run to take a 79-47 lead with just under four minutes to play. Logan Bagshaw, Alex Lin and James all knocked down three-pointers on concurrent possessions while Lin added another in the closing minutes. 

Southern is back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 6 when they travel to Garden City, N.Y. to take on Adelphi in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
