No. 16 SCSU Men's Soccer Plays To 0-0 Draw At Saint Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. – Nationally-ranked No. 16 Southern Connecticut men's soccer played to a 0-0 draw at Saint Rose, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Albany, N.Y. The Owls remain undefeated on the year at 3-0-2 while Saint Rose moves to 3-1-1 on the season. Both teams open NE10 play at 0-0-1.

Devin Juan was the star of the show as the Owls' goalkeeper stopped seven shots on goal for the afternoon. Juan made the play of the day when Nick Koenig was awarded a penalty kick after being tackled in the box. Koenig fired to the bottom left of the goal but Juan was all over it to deny the initial shot, and then leaped to his feet and made a second safe on Koenig's bid for the rebound.

Saint Rose held the advantage for the game with seven shots-on-goal to SCSU's four. Juan also broke up three corner kicks and stopped a shot from close range off of a free kick by Koenig midway through the second half.

For Juan, the Owls' keeper has now posted back-to-back shutouts and runs his season total to three clean sheets. For the year, Juan hosts a 0.40 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage after stopping 17-of-19 shots-on-goal to date.

Southern is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 14 when it hosts Queens College at 7 p.m. at Jess Dow Field. The Owls resume NE10 play against Saint Anselm on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. in New Haven.
