How It Happened
- The Owls struck first in the seventh minute of the first quarter as Rodriguez Richiutti made the magic happen after she worked her way into the circle and slipped a shot to the left side for the first goal of the game.
- Southern's second goal came just one minute later as Tori Geaglone (Enfield, Conn.) played a long ball ahead from the midfield. The Ravens keeper stepped to play the ball, but a misjudged move was capitalized on by Brianna Caffrey (Hampton, Conn.), who swooped in and buried it to put the Owls up a pair.
- In the second quarter, it was Rodriguez Ricchiuti once again putting in the work for the Owls. Caffrey gave it to Rodriguez Ricchiuti, who briefly lost possession in the circle, but managed to corral it and dish it to the left side for Abbey Kellerman (Fairfield, Conn.) to finish off.
- After going into halftime up by three, the Owls tacked on another in the third quarter. On a corner, the insert went to Kaitlyn Bourque (Enfield, Conn.), who slotted to the left side for Kayla Seimer's (West Milford, N.J.) first goal as an Owl, 3-0.
- Franklin Pierce found life and their footing in the fourth quarter. On a corner, the Ravens play went to the top of the circle for Megan Winn, who slid it over to Gabi Sturgeon on the left. Sturgeon then launched it and found the back of the net to get them on the board.
- Southern's final goal came in the third minute of the fourth quarter and who was it but Rodriguez Ricchiutti once again. The first-year Owl received the ball on the outside of the circle, barreled towards the center of goal and reversed-swept a rocket into the left side to seal it.
- Kaitlyn Parent (Glastonbury, Conn.) backstopped the Owls with four saves in the win.
