Remembering Irene Donelan
Prior to the start of the Owls' meet, SCSU Gymnastics will remember Irene Donelan, who passed peacefully on Dec. 24, 2022.

Donelan was a four-year member of the Owls, competing from 1984 through 1987. Irene helped the Owls to a pair of NCAA Division II Northeast Regional titles in 1985 and 1986 including a fifth-place finish on the Floor Exercise in 1985.

Donelan also played an integral part in two ECAC Division II Championships in 1984 and 1986. In 1986, Donelan finished second on the Bars, fifth on the Vault and fifth in the All-Around competition as the Owls won their second ECAC Championship in three seasons. In 1987, Donelan placed fifth on the Vault and 7th on the Bars at the ECAC Championship, where the Owls finished third.

Alumni Meet
Former SCSU Women's Gymnastics head coaches Pat Panichas and Jerry Nelson as well as former teammates will be on hand to recognize Donelan and celebrate her life. Alumni are asked to arrive early to the event for a brief presentation on Donelan's time at Southern Connecticut. There will also be a luncheon following the meet at James Moore Field House.
