Southern Connecticut men's basketball will play the first of back-to-back road games in Manchester, N.H. when they take on Saint Anselm on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 3:30 p.m. at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The Owls enter the weekend with a record of 13-5 overall and 8-3 in NE10 play while Saint Anselm will host the Owls with a record of 13-4 overall and 9-2  in conference play.

Owls Notes
  • Southern is coming off a 73-71 win against Le Moyne at home earlier this week.
  • Sean James (East Hartford, Conn.) had 29 points to match his season-high, while shooting 6-of-11 from three-point range and 10-of-16 from the floor. 
  • Marty Silvera (Worcester, Mass.) once again filled up the box score as he totaled 14 points, eight rebounds and six assists. 
  • Cherif Diarra (Queens, N.Y.) had a game-high 11 rebounds with three points, three assists and three blocks. 
  • Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.) finished with 12 points.
  • Coleman leads the team with 14.7 points per game while averaging 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists. The Owls' senior has also connected on 34 three-pointers for the year, good for second in the Owls' lineup.
  • Silvera averages 12.6 points and a team-high 4.8 assists while also grabbing 5.1 rebounds per game. He also leads the team with 2.7 steals per contest.
  • Silvera's 49 steals and 2.7 per game both rank second in the country.
  • Silvera ranks second in the conference with 87 assists and 25th nationally, while his 4.8 assists per game ranks second in the NE10 and 32nd nationally.
  • Cherif Diarra averages a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game, to go along with 6.6 points per contest.
  • Diarra ranks second in the conference in total rebounds (157) and 26th nationally while 8.7 per game average is third in the NE10 and 42nd nationally.
  • Diarra leads the NE10 with 3.7 offensive rebounds per game, which ranks seventh in the country.
  • James is averaging 12.4 points per game, as well as 3.1 assists, while he has connected on a team-high 43 three-pointers, while shooting 43% from long range.
  • Kazell Stewart has been a valuable part of the Owls rotation with 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. In addition, Stewart has seven blocks in his last four games.
  • Zack Penn averages 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.
 
Scouting The Hawks
  • Tyler Arbuckle leads Saint Anselm with 17.5 points per game while Miles Tension checks-in at 15.2 points and a team-high 4.2 assists per contest.
  • Owen McGlashan averages 12.1 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game while Zac Taylor sits at 11 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest.
