Southern Connecticut men's basketball will travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on Assumption University in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Laska Gymnasium. The Owls enter the game with a record of 10-4 overall and 5-2 in the NE10, while Assumption is 5-8 overall and 1–6 in Northeast 10 Conference play. The Southern Connecticut Owls are now on a winning streak of seven games.

The Owls' Last Time Out
Southern is coming off a 75-66 NE10 Conference win against Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H. on Wednesday, Jan. 4. Owls' senior Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.) led the Owls with 20 points with 14 coming in the second half as the Owls mounted a late comeback. Coleman was one of five different Owls to score in double figures, while Sean James (West Hartford, Conn.) finished with 14 points, all coming in the first half. Zack Penn (New Hartford, Conn.) had 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Cherif Diarra (Queens, N.Y.) had 11 points and nine rebounds with two blocks. Marty Silvera (Worcester, Mass.) had 10 points and seven steals.

Owls Notes

• Southern is coming off an 75-66 win against Franklin Pierce in Rindge, N.H.
• The last time Southern faced Assumption was on Jan. 25, 2022 where the Owls lost 90-70 away at Assumption.
• Ulyen Coleman notched 20 points in the Owls' win against Franklin Pierce to lead the Owls, and averages a team-high 14.5 points per game.
• Sean James was named the Northeast 10 Week 7 Player of the Week after dropping 28 points and going 8-of-14 in three-pointers in the win against American International on Dec. 31. James scored 14 points in the win over Franklin Pierce. James now averages twelve points per game, and leads the team in three-pointers with an average of 2.4 per game. He also averages 3.3 in assists.
• Zack Penn averages 6.3 rebounds per game and 8.8 points. Against Franklin Pierce, Penn notched 12 points and eight rebounds.
• Cherif Diarra leads the team in rebounds with 8.2. He averages 6.9 points and 1.3 blocks. Against Franklin Pierce, Diarra notched 11 points and nine rebounds along with two blocks.
• Marty Silvera clocks in with 11.6 points, 4.5 assists, and 4.9 rebounds. 
• Kazell Stewart (East Hartford, Conn.) collects 4.8 rebounds and 9.5 points.
