SCSU Men's Basketball Defeats AIC 69-49

NEW HAVEN, CONN—Southern Connecticut men's basketball saw their matchup against American International College (AIC) end in a 69-49 win in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at American International. With the win, the Owls moved to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in NE10 play while AIC went to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the NE10.
           
Josh McGettigan led the way for the Owls with 21 points on 8-13 from the field, 3-5 from beyond the arc and seven rebounds. Along with McGettigan, Cherif Diarra also hit the double-digit mark in points scoring 14 on 5-7 from the field, while snagging 13 rebounds for the double double. Distributing the rock for the Owls, Marty Silvera had a game high five assists.
           
McGettigan's influence was felt heavily by the Owls in the final 5:30 minutes of the game. With 5:22 left on the clock, Diarra caught the ball in the high post. He put his back to the basket and posted up. He passed the ball out to the three-point line to McGettigan. After Receiving the pass, McGettigan pump faked to shake his defender and hit the three to put the Owls up by seven. Since that point, McGettigan tacked on nine more points to lead the Owls down the stretch to a 20-point win.
           
Southern is back in action when it takes on the College of Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at the James Moore Field House on Saturday, Dec 2 at 3:30 p.m.
