SCSU Men's Basketball Picks Up Big Win Against Saint Rose, 83-69

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Owls defeated The College Of Saint Rose Golden Knights in a come from behind conference win, 83-69. The win brings the Owls overall record to 5-2 on the year with a Northeast-10 conference record of 2-2. 

The first half of play saw multiple lead changes with Southern ultimately heading into the half with a two point lead. Coming out of the first half St. Rose hit their stride, jumping out to an eight point lead. The Owls however were able to reel them in and tie it up with just under eight minutes of play in the second half. The Owls would not surrender this lead for the remainder of the game, ultimately running away with the 14 point victory.

Christian Joe was the spark of energy the Owls needed off the bench putting up a career high 20 points on 4-7 shooting from beyond the arch accompanied by seven assists. Josh McGettigan and Kazell Stewart also continued to get it done for the Owls. McGettigan scored 20 points with a couple late threes to help extend the Owls lead along with seven boards. Stewart also had himself a 20 point game and was tied with Cherif Diarra with a game high 9 rebounds.

The Owls will be back in action on December 5th at Pace University at 7:30 PM in Pleasantville, NY for another NE-10 match up.
