SCSU Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match, Downing Goldey-Beacom and Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Southern Connecticut volleyball took both games of its tri-match at the University of Bridgeport, sweeping Goldey-Beacom and taking the final match, 3-1, against the host Purple Knights. With the two wins, Southern improved to 13-16 for the year.

Carissa Michael totaled 14 kills and four blocks in the tri-match while Sarah Stack tallied 14 kills and nine blocks. Lily Miller had 53 assists for the afternoon. Ahunna James also had 14 kills and 11 digs.

Against Goldey-Beacom, Carissa Michel led the Owls with eight kills while also totaling eight digs, two aces and a block. Michel hit .389 while tallying a team-leading 10.5 points. Ahunna James had seven kills with six digs while Sara Enright totaled six kills while hitting .385 with two aces and six digs. Sarah Stark had four blocks and six kills while hitting .364 and Kendall Webber had five kills and two blocks while hitting .556. Lily Miller had 22 assists with two aces. Miller now has six 20-assist matches in her last seven outings.

Against Bridgeport, Stark totaled nine kills and five blocks while Michel had six kills, two aces and three blocks. James continued her strong play with seven kills in the nightcap, with two aces, two blocks and five digs while Webber had nine kills against Bridgeport. Enright had six kills and a team-high 15 digs while Miller had 31 assists.

Southern will wrap up the regular season at home next weekend when it hosts Saint Michael's on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. and Saint Anselm on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.
