STORRS, Conn. - Southern Connecticut women's basketball fell to Division I opponent, the University of Connecticut, 97-38 in a exhibition, on Saturday afternoon at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion.
The Owls got the first points of the game with a three-pointer by
Julianna Bonilla and an assist by
Hope Fox.
Delaney Haines had a team-best of 14 points, as she had two rebounds, was 3-6 from the three-point line and was 100% from the free throw line.
Jillian Martin and
Julianna Bonilla both had eight points for the Owls. Martin had a team-best of five assists against the Huskies.
Hope Fox led the team in rebounds with eight, as
Rheyna Steinauer followed closely behind with three rebounds of her own.
The Owls open their season with a home tournament on Saturday, Nov. 11 at James Moore Field House at 5:00 p.m. against non-conference opponent, Georgian Court University. On Sunday, Nov. 12, Southern will play non-conference opponent, Mercy University at 3:30 p.m. in the Field House.
