Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 6 SCSU Men's Soccer Falls To No. 7 SNHU, 1-0, In NE10 Semifinals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – No. 6 seeded Southern Connecticut State University lost to No. 7 seeded Southern New Hampshire, 1-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference Championship Semifinal matchup at Jess Dow Field. SNHU will now advance to the NE10 Championship Game to take on Franklin Pierce on Sunday, Nov. 12.

SNHU's Alejo Caceres scored the game's only goal, a strike from 30 yards out that sailed through traffic to find the far post and give the Penmen a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute of play. Owls goalkeeper Devin Juan kept Southern in the game with a seven-save performance, including the Penmen's last six shots on goal in the second half.

Southern had several opportunities down the stretch as Zachary Tuccitto's shot on goal stood as SNHU goalkeeper Preston Neal's only save of the day. Karim Said also had an opportunity from the top of the box midway through the second half, but it sailed just high of the cross bar. Southern was also without their center attack Yannick Hilpert who scored five goals over five-straight games heading into the conference tournament.

The Owls season comes to an end with an overall mark of 6-8-3, including a 4-5-1 mark. The Owls, in head coach Kevin Anderson's '94 first season, clinched the No. 6 seed after a 3-1-2 record in their final six games of the regular season before upsetting tournament No. 3 seed Adelphi in the NE10 First Round.
