Southern Connecticut women's basketball will host Franklin Pierce for a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at James Moore Field House. The Owls, winners of two-straight and three of their last four games, enter the game at 16-9 overall and 10-7 in the NE10 while Franklin Pierce is 14-10 overall and 9-8 in conference play.

The Last Time They Met
The Owls and Ravens last played on Jan. 4, 2023, which saw Southern defeat Franklin Pierce, 75-66, in Rindge, N.H.  
  • Owls' senior Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.) led the Owls with 20 points with 14 coming in the second half as the Owls mounted a late comeback.
  • Coleman was one of five different Owls to score in double figures, while Sean James (West Hartford, Conn.) finished with 14 points, all coming in the first half. 
  • Zack Penn (New Hartford, Conn.) had 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Cherif Diarra (Queens, N.Y.) had 11 points and nine rebounds with two blocks. 
  • Marty Silvera (Worcester, Mass.) had 10 points and seven steals. 
NE10 Tournament Outlook
The new-look NE10 tournament will feature all 13 teams. The top three teams in the conference standings will receive a first-round bye, No. 4 would host No. 13, No. 5 would host No. 12, No. 6 would host No. 11, No. 7 would host No. 10 and No. 8 would host No. 9. The NE10 First Round is slated for Friday, Feb. 24 with the Quarterfinals to be played Sunday, Feb. 26. The NE10 Quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday, Mar. 1 and the Finals on Saturday, Mar. 4.
 
Owls Notes
  • Ulyen Coleman leads Southern with 15.4 points per game while also averaging 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
  • In his last four games, Coleman is averaging 18 points per game while shooting 50% (12-24) from three-point range.
  • Zack Penn is coming off three-straight double-doubles after totaling 20 points and 12 rebounds at Pace, 17 points and 10 rebounds against Saint Rose and 16 points and 10 boards against Adelphi, for a 17.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game over his last three outings.

  • Sean James averages 12.2 points and 3.1 assists per game and leads the Owls with 61 three-pointers. 
Ravens Notes
  • Mohamed Traore leads Franklin Pierce with 13.2 points per game while also averaging 5.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest.
  • Sean Bresnan leads the Ravens with 6.0 rebounds per game while also scoring at an 11.2 per game clip.
  • Brandon Kolek averages 11.9 points with 2.3 assists and 4.2 rebounds per contest.
  • Jarnel Snow-Guzman leads FPU with 3.1 assists per game while also averaging 8.1 points. 
Up Next
Southern will play its final road game of the regular season when it travels to Springfield, Mass. to take on American International on Saturday, Feb. 18. The Owls will then host Assumption for Senior Night on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at James Moore Field House.
