Follow SCSU Track & Field At NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Southern Connecticut men's and women's track & field will compete in the 2022-23 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Mar. 11 at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, Va.

Owls fans can follow the action with live video provided by NCAA.com. Fans can access the women's feed here and the men's feed here. Additionally, fans can also track the Owls' progress via live results.

The Owls will be represented on the men's side by two-time Northeast 10 Conference Indoor Shot Put Champion Cameron Belton (Baltic, Conn.), while the women's side will feature Ella Maclean (Nashua, N.H.), Avery Winters (Wallingford, Conn.), Izzy Newbury (Moosup, Conn.) and Hannah Caiola (Glastonbury, Conn.) in the 4x400 Meter Relay.

Belton is seeded third in the Shot Put with a qualifying mark of 17.53m, which trails the second-seeded entry by .01 and the top seed by .11. Belton's career-best mark of 17.68m came in last year's NE10 Championships.

It will be Belton's second-straight trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships. Last season, Belton finished in 13th place with a throw of 17.11 meters, the ninth best throw in program history. Belton was just the second Southern Connecticut freshman to ever compete in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championship, joining Rob Golabek in 2008.

The Owl's 4x400 Relay team of Maclean, Caiola, Winters and Newbury qualified at Boston University's Last Chance Meet on Sunday, Feb. 26 with a time of 3:46.46, which stands as the ninth-best time this season in the nation. The Owls 4x400 team, with NE1 Track Rookie of the Year Anna-Sashia Jones in place of Caiola, won the NE10 Championship this season. Jones will travel with the team as an alternate.

This is the first qualification for the entire team, and the first indoor Owls' women indoor student-atheltes to qualify since Briana Burt and Destiny Coward in 2019. The Owls' 4x400 team also qualified in three-straight indoor championships, including a National Championship winning team in 2015.

Individually, Maclean captured two NE10 Championships in addition to the 4x400 Relay title, taking home the 60 Meters and 200 Meters Championships. She was previously the 2022 NE10 Indoor and Outdoor Track Rookie of the Year and also won the 100 Meter Outdoor Championship last season. Winter also won a Bronze Medal in the 400 Meters.
