SCSU Gymnastics Places 23 On Gymnastics East Conference Scholar-Athlete List

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut gymnastics featured 23 student-athletes that earned 2022 Gymnastics East Conference Scholar-Athlete honors, as announced by the GEC on Wednesday, Mar. 15, 2023.
 
To be eligible for GEC Scholar-Athlete honors, a gymnast must maintain a GPA of 3.2 or above throughout the 2022 calendar year. Freshmen are eligible with Fall 2022 semester grades only. 
 
Two-time recipients include Libby Allen, Audrey Arnold, Erica Beyer, Ava Boyd, Brooke Burkhart, Emelia Diaz, Brie Dorr, Alex England, Jayci Jordan, Emiley Kahl, Angel Lee, Kamryn Leinheiser, Charlie Lister, Brianna Marriott, Shreya Munshi, Paige Scott, Hannah Stahlbrodt and Megan Workman.
 
Owls earning Scholar-Athlete honors for the first time include Maria Damiano, Ava Kelly, Madison Richman and Abby Royer
 
In addition to their GEC Scholar-Athlete recognition, five student-athletes also earned All-GEC First and Second team recognition. Zebdi led the way with First Team nods on the Vault and Floor, while Stahlbrodt (Bars), Lee (Beam) and Allen (Floor) also received First Team honors. Royer was named to the Floor Second Team.

Southern is back in action this weekend when it travels to Williamsburg, Va. to compete in the 2022-23 GEC Championships on Saturday, Mar. 18, hosted by William & Mary. The Owls, the fifth-seed in the competition, will compete in the first session at 12 p.m. Live video and stats will be available at SCSUOwls.com.
