SCSU Women's Lacrosse Highlights vs. AIC (Mar. 29, 2023)

Bayleigh Takacs (Sparta, N.J.) posted her second-straight six-point game after scoring four goals and assisting on two more. Takacs has now totaled six points in three of her last four games. Her two assists also give her 55 for her career, one shy of the program record held by Carolynn Keal '18. In addition to the career record, Takacs' 16 assists for the year are just four behind single season record holder Keal, who had 20 in 2018.

Alexandra Ruel (Ivoryton, Conn.) scored four goals and assisted on another while Savannah Feinberg (Sound Beach, N.Y.) had three goals and two assists as well as four draw controls. Karlie Rowe (Niantic, Conn.), Brianna Shaw (Branford, Conn.) and Kelly Jagodzinski (Stamford, Conn.) all scored twice while Kirsten McIntire had a goal and two assists.

Takacs had a hand in all three of the Owls' first quarter goals, setting up Rowe with the game's first marker before scoring two unanswered goals in the final 4:31 of the frame to give Southern a 3-1 lead after the first 15. In the second, Shaw scored to give Southern a 4-1 lead before AIC answered. The Owls then rattled off five-straight goals with Shaw scoring her second of the game and Ruel scoring twice in the run. Feinberg scored again in the quarter as Southern outscored the Yellow Jackets, 9-2, in the second to head into halftime with a 12-3 lead.

Both teams played even in the third quarter, 2-2, with Ruel and Rowe converting for Southern. Leading 14-5, Southern held off an AIC surge to outscore the Yellow Jackets, 5-4, down the stretch. Morgan Reilly (Stratford, Conn.) got on the board with a goal while Ruel, Feinberg, Jagodzinski and Takacs all got in on the action.

In goal, freshman goalkeeper Caelan Connors (Holbrook, N.Y.) had five saves to improve to 5-3 on the season.

Southern returns to action when it hosts Franklin Pierce on Saturday, Apr. 1 at 1 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
