Jessica Perucki picked up the win in the first game after giving up two runs on five hits over nine innings, while she also drove in two runs at the plate. Rachel Miller was 2-for-4 and also had the game-winning RBI in extra innings that scored Natalie Scotto. In the second game, Jacqueline Dumont was 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored while Emily Lange was 3-for-5 with a RBI and two runs scored.

In the first game, Faith Barbieri walked with one out in the 1st before Jessica Perucki doubled to the left field wall to give Southern a 1-0 lead. Perucki was cruising on the mound, only allowing one baserunner over the first three innings and retiring 10 of the first 11 batters she faced. In the 4th, Caldwell got a run back with a two-out double that tied the game at 1-1.

From there, Perucki was perfect as she retired the next 10 batters she faced through the 7th inning. Heading to extra innings, and with a courtesy runner at second due to the tiebreaker rule, Caldwell managed to manufacture two runs to take a 3-1 lead in the top of the 8th.

In the bottom half of the inning, Gabby Festa singled to left field as Southern's courtesy runner, Rachel Miller, moved to third. Samantha LaFemina's comebacker to the mound allowed Miller to cross the plate as Festa moved into scoring position at second. After Angela Barresi flew out for the second out of the inning, left-handed lead-off batter Emily Lange lined a double the opposite way as the ball touched just inside the line past third base and scuttled to the corner. Festa scored with the game-tying read to send the game to the 9th.

In the ninth, Caldwell sacrificed their runner over to third base before Perucki retired the next batter. With two outs, Caldwell singled up the middle to regain the lead, 4-3. In the 9th, with Faith Barbieri starting at second, Jacqueline Dumont grounded out to second and moved Barbieri to third. Perucki then reached on a fielder's choice with the Owls tying the game, 4-4. Natalie Scotto came in to run for Perucki at first base. Paige Delier then grounded out to third, which moved Scotto to second base. Miller then lit a line drive to right field to drive home Scotto who beat the tag at the plate.

In the second game,  Southern got on the board in the 1st when Lange singled to lead off the game. After Barbieri was retired, Dumont crushed her sixth home run of the season to give Southern a 2-0 lead. Caldwell responded with six runs in the 2nd and five more in the 3rd to take an 11-2 lead.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Lange singled, Barbieri walked and Dumont was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Miller then grounded out to short to score Lange before Festa reached on an error to score Barbieri before Dumont scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-5. The Owls made it 11-6 when Barresi singled and then scored on a base hit by Dumont.

The Owls continued to chip away with a run in the 6th. With one out, Barbieri doubled and then scored on a base hit by Dumont. After giving up two runs in the top of the 7th, Southern scored again when Festa doubled and scored on a hit by Lange.

Southern is back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 18 when it hosts Adelphi for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader at Pelz Field.
