Jessica Perucki turned in another dominant performance as she struck out 14 batters over 10 innings for the second time in as many starts. Perucki went 10 innings, totaling 14 K's, in her last start against Bentley on Saturday, Apr. 22. She picked up the win to improve to 8-11 on the year against Dominican after giving up three runs, only two of which were earned, on nine hits. It was her fifth double-digit strikeout performance of the season and third 14-strikeout game.

In the process of striking out 14 Dominican batters, Perucki became the third pitcher in SCSU history to total 150 strikeouts in a season, joining Gail Holznagel and Jayme Larson. Perucki's 154 K's are the second-most in a single-season, passing Larson's 152 in 2012, and are the most since Holznagel struck-out 226 in 1983. She also passed Sherry Faircloth's '96 career mark of 345 and now stands at 364 for her career, good for fourth place. She trails Jessica Dempsey's '08 369 career strikeouts for the third most in program history.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Jacqueline Dumont and Perucki were both 2-for-4, with Dumont driving in two runs and Perucki driving in another. Emily Lange also had a RBI and two runs scored. Southern got on the board in the bottom of the 1st when Emilly Lange walked and then stole second base. After Faith Barbieri bunted Lange over to third, Jacqueline Dumont singled to left to plate Lange and give the Owls a 1-0 lead. Dominican strung together three hits to push across a run in the top of the 3rd to tie it at 1-1, and took a 2-1 lead in the 6th.

In the bottom of the 6th, Dumont singled to right field, before Natalie Scotto entered the game as a pinch runner. Perucki helped her own cause with a drive to right-center for a double that scored Scotto from first base to tie the game at 2-2.

With the tiebreaker rule in effect, Dominican bunted the runner over from second, who then scored on a ground out in the top of the 8th. In the bottom half of the inning, Lange started on second and Barbieri bunted her over to third before Dumont's ground ball to third scored Lange with the game-tying run. In the top of the 9th, Dominican's runner interfered with a ball hit to Nadia Cestari at short for the first out, with the batter reaching on a fielder's choice. The next batter hit a bloop to Cestari, who caught it in the air and caught the runner at first off the bag for the inning-ending double play. The Owls went in order in the bottom of the 9th before Perucki got all three batters to fly out in the top of the 10th. In the bottom of the 10th, Cestari started at second and moved to third on Ally Petrella's sacrifice bunt. Lange then hit a line drive to left-center that was dropped that allowed Cestari to cross with the game-winning run.

In the second game,  Nadia Cestari was 2-for-4 with a double while Dumont drove in two runs. Paige Delier also doubled and drove in a run. Southern jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd. Cestari double down the right field line and then went to third on Angela Barresi's single back to the pitcher. After Petrella flew out to right, Barresi got caught in a run down and allowed Cestari to steal home. Lange then grounded out for the second out of the inning, with Barresi going to second. Barbieri dropped down a bunt and beat the throw to the bag as Barressi moved to third. Dumont then crushed a double down the left field line to score Barresi and Barbieri before Paige Delier doubled over the left fielder's head to score Dumont.

Domanican tied the game in the top of the 5th with a three-hit inning, capped by a two-run single by Madison Walker and a two-run double by Jaeley LaPorte that tied the game. In the 6th, a wild pitch set up a RBI single by Chloe McIntosh to give Dominican the lead for good.

The Owls close the regular season in Manchester, N.H. this weekend when they take on Southern New Hampshire on Friday, Apr. 28 and Saint Anselm on Saturday, Apr. 29.
