SCSU Softball Splits With Saint Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut softball split a Northeast 10 Conference doubleheader at Saint Rose, losing the first game, 1-0, before responding with a 12-4 win in the second game. Southern goes to 9-13 overall and 5-5 in the NE10 while Saint Rose moves to 6-17 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

In the first game, Southern received another strong start from Jessica Perucki but failed to provide her with any offensive support. Perucki gave up a fourth-inning home run, but allowed just one base runner over six innings while striking out six. Emily Lange and Gabby Festa both had two hits in the first game.

Festa stayed hot in the second game with a 2-for-3 nightcap that saw her blast her first home run of the season while also scoring two runs. Rachel Miller also homered for the Owls while Katrina Roy was 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored. Lange also drove in three runs while Ally Petrella was 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. On the mound, Emma Gorham improved to 4-3 on the season after giving up four runs on four hits over three innings. Ashley Lewis logged two hitless, and scoreless, innings while striking out three.

Southern is back in action on Saturday, Apr. 8 when it faces Le Moyne for a Northeast 10 Conference doubleheader at 12 p.m. in Syracuse, N.Y.
