DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut State volleyball fell, 3-1, to Mercy University in a four-set battle. While the Mavericks took the close two sets, the Owls came back strong to take the third set, 25-21. Despite their efforts, Mercy won the fourth and final set to end the match on Wednesday night. Southern has a 4-5 record on the season, with many matches left to play.
Sara Enright had her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills, 10 digs and an ace.
Kacey Deecher had eight kills and nine digs against the Mavericks.
The first-year Owls continued to strengthen the team in all areas of the court.
Kendall Webber recorded five kills and four blocks at the net.
Ahunna James had a career-high of three blocks and an ace.
Carissa Michel was once again one of the team leaders, with seven kills.
Sarah Stark racked up six kills and three blocks against Mercy.
Taylor Jones led the team with 18 assists while
Lily Miller followed closely behind with 10 assists of her own.
Southern Connecticut State volleyball is back in action this Friday, September 15 at Pelz Gym against Post University at 3:00 pm and against Assumption University at 7:00 pm.
