SCSU Volleyball Takes Two Against Post, Assumption

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut defeated Post and Assumption in a tri-match at Pelz Gym in New Haven, Conn. The Owls defeated the Eagles, 3-0, before bouncing back to win the final three sets to beat Assumption. With the pair of wins, Southern improved to 6-5 on the year.

Against Post, Carissa Michel had a team-leading 11 kills while hitting .429 with three aces and two blocks. Avery Smith totaled eight kills while Sara Enright had seven kills and seven digs. Taylor Jones led the Owls with 18 assists while Lily Miller totaled 15 and Aubrey Villena led the Owls with 10 digs. Villena and Enright both had two aces, each.



In the second game, Enright had a game-high 15 kills as well as four aces and eight digs. Enright was dominant, hitting a game-high .387. Kendall Webber had eight kills and three blocks while Ahunna James tallied six kills, eight digs, two aces and three blocks to help the Owls to the win. Jones once again led the Owls with 23 assists while Miller had 13.




Southern wraps up the weekend with a trip to Flushing, N.Y. to take on Queens College on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 12 p.m.
