SCSU Women's Soccer Blanks Saint Michael's, 3-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's soccer won its third-straight game and opened its Northeast-10 Conference schedule with a 3-0 win against Saint Michael's at Jess Dow Field. With the win, the Owls improved to 3-1-1 on the year, and 1-0-0 in NE10 play, while Saint Michael's goes to 2-1-2 overall and 0-1-0 in the NE10.
 
Kelsey Burr factored into all three of the Owls goals, scoring twice and setting up Kylee Slavik with a goal. Slavik also assisted on Burr's goal. Abby Aughe stopped the Purple Knights' lone shot on goal for her second-straight clean sheet as she has not allowed a goal in 210:51 consecutive minutes over her last three games.


 
The Owls got on the board when Alexie Rosado took control of the ball at midfield and fed Slavik, who slid a perfect outlet to Burr, between two defenders, who walked in on goal and converted. In the 28th minute, it was Burr's centering pass from the wing that set-up Slavik with the re-direct in front of the Saint Mike's goal to give Southern a 2-0 lead. Burr added her second goal on a penalty kick with 2:25 to play in the half. 
 
Burr and Slavik have now scored in three-straight games for the Owls, with Burr totaling four goals and two assists while Slavik has three goals and an assist in that span.
 
Southern continues NE10 play on Tuesday, Sept. 19 when it hosts Pace for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Jess Dow Field.
