SCSU Men's Soccer Falls To New Haven, 1-0

Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut men's soccer lost to University of New Haven, 1-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn. With the loss, Southern dropped to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in NE10 play while New Haven improved to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference action.

"I thought there were parts of the game that we showed more patience with the ball, which helped us control more of the physical part of the game," head coach Kevin Anderson said. "That is a positive for us."

Southern outshot New Haven, 9-6, but could not get a shot on goal. The Owls also held the edge on corners, 6-3, while UNH had a 3-2 advantage in the second half. New Haven's Oskar Kvarnback scored the game's only goal with under three minutes to go in the first half.

"With that, we are still growing as we approach the final third and need to create more dangerous goal scoring opportunities and threats," Anderson said. "In the end, possession without an end product is just not enough and does not create enough danger and left us leaving tonight's game with no points."

Southern will look to bounce back on Saturday, Sept. 23 when it takes on Saint Anselm in Mancherst, N.H. at 1 p.m.
