NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State volleyball fell to Daemen University (N.Y.), 3-1, in a non-conference match at Pelz Gym in New Haven, Conn. The Owls dropped to 8-6 overall, while the Wildcats improved to 8-4.
Daemen took the first set, 25-10 and the second set, 25-21, over Southern. However, the Owls took the third set strongly with a score line of 25-12. In the fourth set, the Wildcats bounced back and dominated with a 25-10 victory.
First-year
Carissa Michel led the team with 9 kills, seven digs and two assists.
Sara Enright had eight kills, 11 digs and a service ace.
Kacey Deecher recorded seven kills and four digs for the Owls.
Libero
Emily Sartell was one of the team leaders in digs with six and had two assists.
Kendall Webber had four kills and two blocks against the Wildcats.
Taylor Jones and
Lily Miller combined for 25 assists for Southern.
Volleyball returns to action on Saturday, September 23 for a 12:00 pm matchup against Elm City rival, University of New Haven. Then, the Owls travel to Caldwell University for a 7:00 pm match on Tuesday, September 26. Southern returns to Pelz Gym on Thursday, September 28 at 7:00 pm against Felician University.
