SCSU Men's Soccer Tipped At Saint Anselm, 1-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern Connecticut men's soccer took a 1-0 loss at Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup in Manchester, N.H. With the loss, Southern dropped to 2-4-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the NE10 while Saint Anselm improved to 3-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.

"Our overall play and performance over the last week has been better and we have controlled large portions of games," head coach Kevin Anderson said. "We will continue to reflect and build. We had more and better goal scoring chances today…we hit the post five times. We all know close does not count."

Southern once again was dominant defensively as they held the Hawks to two shots on goal in regulation. It was Saint Anselm's first attempt of the game that gave them an early 1-0 lead. Southern had three opportunities in the second half, all coming within a five-minute span, but couldn't convert.

"To our entire team and staff, talent and ability are not enough. It's not about what we are capable of doing…it's about what we are willing to do to achieve it. Let's find out."

Southern will look to get back on track when it travels to Adelphi on Tuesday, Sept. 26 for its lone game of the week. The Owls will then travel to Franklin Pierce on Oct. 4 and Post on Oct. 7 before returning home to Jess Dow Field to host Saint Michael's on Friday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
