SCSU Women's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision At Saint Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. - Southern Connecticut women's soccer lost to No. 2 College of Saint Rose, 2-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup in Albany, N.Y. Southern dropped to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in NE10 play while Saint Rose improved to 7-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in conference play.

Alexie Rosado scored the Owls only goal of the game on a pass from Kelsey Burr. The goal gave Southern a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute, while it also stood as Rosado's second of the year. Burr's assist brings her point streak to five-straight games. With the Owls pressuring, Saint Rose grabbed the ball before Burr was able to win it back. She then played the ball ahead of Rosado who found herself one-on-one with the Golden Knights' defender after slipping her defender. Rosado, challenged by the keeper, sent a shot to the keeper's right for the game's first tally.

The goal broke a scoreless battle that saw Saint Rose pepper Owls keeper Abby Aughe with nine shots on goal over the first 45 minutes, all of which Aughe handled to send the game to halftime scoreless. Saint Rose converted on a penalty kick in the 64th minute of play before scoring again with nine minutes left in regulation.

Southern looks to get back on track when it travels to Adelphi on Wednesday, Sept. 27 before hosting Franklin Pierce on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
