CALDWELL, NJ. – Southern Connecticut State volleyball swept Caldwell University, 3-0, in a non-conference matchup at Caldwell University. The Owls improved to 9-7 overall, while the Cougars dropped to 1-8 overall.
Southern took the first set, 25-16, over Caldwell. Then in the second set, the Owls rallied together to take the second set, 25-20. In the third set, Southern came back from being down, to win the match, 25-20, over the Cougars.
First-year
Carissa Michel led the team with 14 kills, while
Sara Enright followed closely behind with seven kills and four digs. In addition,
Sarah Stark had six kills and a block of her own.
Libero
Dylan Marney had a team-best of eight digs, four service aces and two assists against Caldwell. First-year
Ahunna James had seven digs, three service aces and a block. Setters
Taylor Jones and
Lily Miller combined for 36 assists in the win.
Southern returns to action on Thursday, September 28 at 7:00 pm against Felician University at Pelz Gym. To close out the month, the Owls travel to Lakewood, New Jersey for a matchup against Georgian Court University at 5:00 pm on Friday, September 29.
