SCSU Men's Soccer's Match At Mercy Moved To 11:30 AM Due To Inclement Weather

Southern Connecticut men's soccer's at Mercy, which was originally scheduled for a 4 p.m. start, will instead be played at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, due to the threat of inclement weather.

The undefeated SCSU Men's Soccer team will travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. for a non-conference matchup against Mercy on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. The Owls are coming off a 2-0 win against Dominican and a 1-1 tie against Bridgeport.
 
Zico Groenveld and Devin Juan were both named to the NE10 Men's Soccer Week 1 Honor Roll.
 
For the week, Groenveld led the Owls with a goal and two assists, factoring into all three of the Owls' goals for the week. Against Dominican, it was Groenveld off the corner to set-up Rose with the game's first goal before his cross on a free kick found Doherty to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. Against Bridgeport, Groenveld took a pass from Jalen Jean, split a pair of defenders and slid the game's first goal past the Bridgeport keeper to give Southern a 1-0 lead.
 
For Juan, the junior keeper logged all 180 minutes in goal in the Owls' season opening week, finishing with a shutout against Dominican with six saves. Against Bridgeport, Juan stopped four shots on goal while the lone goal scored by the Purple Knights came off a penalty kick. For the week, he averaged 5.00 saves per game while posting a .909 save percentage (10-for-11) with a 0.50 goals-against average.
