MANCHESTER, N.H. - Southern Connecticut women's basketball was defeated by Southern New Hampshire University, 65-56, in an NE10 matchup on Saturday afternoon. Southern Connecticut dropped to an overall record of 8-7 and an NE10 record of 5-4, while Southern New Hampshire improved to an overall record of 10-3 and an NE10 record of 8-1.
Hope Fox led the team with 11 points, shot 5-for-10 from the floor, had a team-best of eight rebounds and an assist.
Makenzie Helms recorded 10 points, led the team with three assists, made a team-best of four free-throws, had a block and a steal against the Penmen.
Julianna Bonilla had eight points, five rebounds, a team-best of three steals and shot 75% from the free-throw line.

Jillian Martin and
Rheyna Steinauer all scored six points each. Martin led the team with three assists and was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Steinauer grabbed six rebounds and had a block against Southern New Hampshire.
Southern New Hampshire started the game off with an early lead; however, Southern Connecticut would come back to take the lead with a scoreline of 18-16. In the second quarter, the Owls held onto the lead despite the Penmen's efforts, going into halftime. In the third quarter, it was a back-and-forth battle between the two NE10 teams for the lead. The close battle continued into the fourth quarter, until the last two minutes when Southern New Hampshire regained the lead and finished out the game with a victory.
The Owls return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 P.M. against Bentley University in an NE10 matchup in the James Moore Field House.
