Christian Joe totaled 12 points, five assists and five steals while Kazell Stewart had 12 points and five rebounds.

The first half saw six lead changes with AIC leading by as many as 12 before Southern bounced back to take a halftime lead. Stewart scored the first six points of the game, but AIC countered by outscoring the Owls, 17-7, over the next 10 minutes to take a 17-13 lead. A pair of hoops by Diarra and a timely three by Logan Bagshaw tied it at 20-20 with 8:45 to go. AIC used a 12-0 run to take a 32-20 lead over a two-minute stretch, but the Owls outscored AIC, 19-6, the rest of the way. In that run, McGettigan scored six points while Silvera scored five before Diarra grabbed an offensive rebound and a put back to give the Owls the lead at the break, 39-38.

The second half saw the Owls lead from wire-to-wire, pushing their lead to as many as 22 points, 86-64, down the stretch. Outscoring AIC, 51-34, in the second half, it was Southern's scoring duo of Silvera (15) and McGettigan (10) accounting for half of the Owls' points. The Owls set the tone for the second half when they opened with an 11-2 run to take a 50-40 lead over the first five minutes and then outscored the Yellow Jackets, 22-13, to take a 70-53 lead with nine minutes to play.
