Delaney Haines earned Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week honors and freshman
Arianna Gerkin earned Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for Week Four, as announced by the NE10 on Monday, Dec. 2.
Delaney Haines had a massive day for the Owls against Bloomfield, as she totaled a career-best and the fourth-most points scored in a single game in SCSU women's basketball history, with 36 points. Additionally, 36 points is the most points scored in a single game so far this season in the Northeast-10 Conference by an individual. Haines made 13-out-of 23 field goals, with eight made three-pointers, which is the most made three-pointers in Division II and in the NE10 so far by an individual in a single game this season, was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, dished out six assists and had a steal in the historic 112-39 win over Bloomfield, which was the most points scored in a single game in SCSU women's basketball program history. Haines is ranked fourth nationally for made three-pointers and leads the NE10 in scoring and in three-point percentage with 41% from beyond the arc.
Arianna Gerkin notched the first double-double of her career, with a career-best of 14 points and 10 rebounds, as she was 6-for-9 from the field, 100% from the free-throw line, had two blocks and a steal in a 112-39 win over Bloomfield, that set a new record of most points scored in a single game in SCSU Women's Basketball history.
The Owls will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 4 on the road in Manchester, N.H. for a 5:30 p.m. NE10 matchup against Saint Anselm. On Saturday, Dec. 7, Southern returns to the Moore Field House at 1:30 p.m. for a rematch of the 2024 NE10 Championship game, against NE10 foe, Bentley University.
