SCSU Men's Track & Field Leads at NE10 Indoor Championships with 62 Points after Day One

BOSTON, Mass. - Southern Connectiut men's track & field leads with 62 points at the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships after the first day of competition at the TRACK at New Balance Center. The Owls have with 62 points, a 23 point lead, through five events on Day One. Southern Connecticut captured two individual championships in the Pole Vault and the Weight Throw; additionally, the Owls also won the Distance Medley Relay. 



Track Results
In the Distance Medley Relay, the Owls "A" Relay team of Sean Barkasy, Eduardo Cuello Briones, Alex Cole and Owen Gagne captured first place with a time of 10:32.31. 

In the 5000 Meters, William Lamburn finished in second place with a time of 15:21.62 and Luca Cazzaniga finished in third place with a career-best time of 15:24.61. 

In the first day of the Heptathlon, Dylan Torok, Peyton Adams and Anthony Gaeta competed strongly in the events. 

60 Meter Dash:
  • Torok: 7.41 (second place) - 742 points
  • Adams: 7.42 (third place) - 739 points
  • Gaeta: 7.46 (seventh place) - 726 points
High Jump
  • Torok: 1.87 meters (first place) - 687 points
  • Adams: 1.81 meters (fourth place) - 636 points
  • Gaeta: 1.60 meters (ninth place) - 464 points
Long Jump
  • Torok: 6.72 meters (first place) - 748 points
  • Adams: 6.05 meters (sixth place) - 597 points
  • Gaeta: 5.53 meters (eigthth place) - 487 points
Shot Put
  • Torok: 11.86 meters (second place) - 613 points
  • Gaeta: 10.53 meters (fifth place) - 518 points
  • Adams: 9.91 meters (seventh place) - 480 points
Field Results
In the Weight Throw, Adelino Daveiga defended his Weight Throw Championship with a throw of 17.72 meters. Natanael Barbosa Torres finished in seventh place with a throw of 15.00 meters and Leo Jolly finished in 10th place with a throw of 13.56 meters. 

In the Pole Vault, Dylan Torok won the Pole Vault Championship with a career-best mark of 4.25 meters. Peyton Adams came in second place with a career-best mark of 4.10 meters. Anthony Gaeta finished in seventh place with a career-best mark of 3.50 meters. 

In the Long Jump, Riley Bjornberg came in third place with a mark of 7.00 meters. 

Track Qualifiers:
Preliminaries took place for the track events on Day One of the NE10 Indoor Track Championshops. Here are the Owls who qualified for the finals on Day Two:

60 Meter Dash:
Nolan Freeman finished in third place with a time of 7.06 in the 60 meter dash. 

200 Meter Dash:
Nolan Freeman came in third place with a time of 21.91, Sam Sandler came in fourth place with a time of 22.05, Osaretin Osagie finished in fifth place with a time of 22.15. In addition, Noah Conrod came in eighth place with a time of 22.50. 

400 Meter Dash:
Hunter Dale came in second place in a time of 49.20 as Sam Sandler finished in fourth place with a time of 49.45. Matt Kilmer finished in seventh place with a time of 50.00 and Max Musial finished in eighth place with a time of 50.13. 

800 Meter Run
Jack Mulcunry finished in first place with a time of 1:54.94 as Jonathan Volpe came in second place with a time of 1:55.86 and Marquis Whyte came in third place with a time of 1:56.42. Besufekad Opstrup came in eighth place in a time of 1:57.68. 

60 Meter Hurdles
Osaretin Osagie came in third place with a time of 8.25 in the 60 meter hurdles.
