SCSU Men's Indoor Track And Field Tie For Second After The First Day Of The NEICAAA New England Championships

SCSU Men's Indoor Track & Field completed the first day of the NEICAAA New England Championships tied for second place with University of New Hampshire led by Jonathan Volpe, Matthew Kilmer and Adelino Daveiga.

Weight Throw

Adelino Daveiga finished third overall in the Weight Throw with a mark of 17.08m.
 
Running Events
400 Meter Dash Prelims (Finals on Saturday, Mar. 2)

Sam Sandler placed third overall in the 400 Meter Dash preliminary round with a time of 48.34 while Max Musial finished 14th at 49.42.
500 Meter Dash Prelims (Finals on Saturday, Mar. 2)
The Owls placed two runners in the top five in the 500 Meter Dash preliminary round as Matthew Kilmer finished second at 1:05.25 and Hunter Dale was fifth at 1:05.68.
800 Meter Run Prelims (Finals on Saturday, Mar. 2)
The Owls placed one runner in the top 10 in the 800 Meter run preliminary round as Marquis White finished ninth at 1:56.64.
1000 Meter Run Prelims (Finals on Saturday, Mar. 2)
The Owls placed two runners in the top eight in the 1000 meter run preliminary round as Jonathan Volpe finished first at 2:28.52 outrunning the next fastest runner by just over three seconds. In addition, Besufekad Opstrup finished eighth at 2:33.98.
200 Meter Dash Prelims (Finals on Saturday, Mar. 2)
Nolan Freeman placed seventh overall in the 200 Meter Dash preliminary round with a time of 22.08.
5000 Meter Run
Luca Cazzaniga placed tenth overall in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:18.86.
4000 Meter Distance Medley Relay
The Owls 4000 Meter Distance Medley Relay team of Sean Barkasy, Max Musial, Marquis Whyte and Owen Gagne placed second overall with a time of 10:35.66.
 
The Owls are back in action tomorrow, Saturday March 2, for the final day of the NEICAAA New England Championships in Boston, Massachusetts.
