SCSU Men's Track & Field Places Second At NEICAAA Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track & field finished second at the 2024 NEICAAA Indoor Championships at The TRACK at New Balance. The Owls' two-day tally of 85 points placed behind University of Rhode Island's 121 in the 30-team field.

Shot Put
Cameron Belton finished third out of 24 with a distance of 16.99m while Natanael Barbosa Torres finished sixth with a season-best mark of 15.97m.

400 Meter Dash
Sam Sandler placed fourth in the 400 Dash finals with a time of career-best 48.28.

500 Meter Dash
Hunter Dale won the 500 Meter Dash Championship with a career-best time of 1:04.52. Matthew Kilmer finished sixth with a time of 1:05.34. Kilmer ran a personal-best 1:05.25 in the preliminary round.
800 Meter Run
Jack Mulcunry finished third in the 800 Run with a time of 1:54.64.

1000 Meter Run
Jonathan Volpe finished second in the 1000 Meter Run with a time of 2:27.63 while Besufekad Opstrup was seventh at 2:35.12. Opstrup ran a personal-best 2:33.98 in the preliminary round earlier in the day.

200 Meter Dash
Nolan Freeman posted a time of 22.02 in the 200 Meter Dash for fifth place.

4x800 Relay
The Owls' squad of Owen Gagne, Opstrup, Nathanael Huebner and Mulcunry finished third in the 4x800 with a time of 7:55.42.

4x400 Relay
Southern won the 4x400 Relay as Osaretin Osagie, Max Musial, Marquis Whyte and Sam Sandler posted a time of 3:13.10.

HEPTATHLON
Dylan Torok finished second overall in the field of 17 in the Heptathlon. Torok posted 4700 points, trailing the leader at 4769.

60 DASH

Athony Gaeta finished sixth with a time of 7.34 followed by Peyton Adams in seventh at 7.40 and Torok in eighth at 7.41.

LONG JUMP

Torok led the Owls in the Long Jump with a fourth-place mark of 6.55m. Adams was fifth at 6.47m.

SHOT PUT

Gaeta led Southern in the Shot Put event with a distance of 11.27m while Torok was seventh at 10.82m.

HIGH JUMP

Torok placed third in the High Jump with a height of 1.84m while Adams was ninth at 1.75m.

60 HURDLES

Gaeta finished second in the 60 Hurdles with a time of 8.93 while Adams was eighth at 9.33. Torok placed 10^th at 9.41.

POLE VAULT

Torok tied for first place in the Pole Veight with a height of 4.40m. Gaeta was ninth at 3.30m.

1000 RUN

Adams led the Owls in the 1000 Run with a time of 2:46.05 while Gaeta was fifth at 2:57.80 and Torok was seventh at 3:00.04.
