SCSU Field Hockey Blanks Mercy, 1-0, In NE10 Win

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut field hockey defeated Mercy, 1-0, in a Northeast 10 Conference game in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. With the win, the Owls improved to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the NE10 while Mercy dropped to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Lindsey Onofrio had the Owls only goal of the game with Taylor Leckey picking up her team-leading sixth assist of the season. Onofrio's goal off the corner set gives her four for the season as her breakout season continues.



Onofrio has also added five assists for 13 points for the year while Leckey has totaled 10 goals to go along with six assists for 26 points for the season.

Leckey also had a defensive save in the game to push her NE10-leading total to seven in 13 games. Rachel Miller made three saves in goal for the Owls to improve to 5-5-0 on the year while recording her first shutout.

Southern is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when it hosts Saint Anselm at 1 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
