SCSU Volleyball Defeated by Bentley, 3-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Southern Connecticut volleyball fell to Bentley, 3-0, on Friday night in an NE10 matchup. The Falcons improved to an overall record of 15-4 and an NE10 record of 5-0 while the Owls dropped to 11-4 and an NE10 record of 2-1.
 
Sydney Bennett recorded a team-best of six kills, while Kerrigan Habing had four kills and Katie Bardak, Victoria Pascual and Sarah Stark had three kills each. Kimi Mitchell led the Owls with a team-best of 23 assists. Sarah Henault had a team-best of two service aces and 13 digs. Kimi Mitchell had six digs, and Victoria Pascual had five digs. Sydney Bennett had a team-best of four blocks and Sarah Stark had three blocks against the Falcons.
 
In the first set, Bentley started out with a 3-0 lead; however, Southern came back and tied the score at 4-4, with kills by Sydney Bennett and Kerrigan Habing and a service ace by Sarah Henault. After that, the Falcons took the lead again and the Owls came back to take it back with a 14-11 advantage, with a kill by Ceci Carter, blocks from Katie Bardak and Sarah Stark and a service ace by Sarah Henault. From there, Bentley worked with their growing momentum and despite Southern closing in on their four-point lead, the Falcons finished out the set, 25-21.
 
In the second set, Bentley jumped to a 11-4 advantage over Southern, early. The Owls looked to make a comeback, to put points back on the board, with kills from Sarah Stark, Kerrigan Habing, Katie Bardak, Sydney Bennett, Victoria Pascual and Kimi Mitchell. Nevertheless, the Falcons stayed in control and won the second set, 25-17 over the Owls.
 
In the third set, it was a close, back and forth match between the two teams. As there were multiple lead changes and ties. Bentley found their rhythm as they extended their lead to 17-10. The Owls looked to make a comeback as there were kills from Katie Bardak and Jaiden Binning, Victoria Pascual, with assists from Kimi Mitchell, to got within four points of the Falcons' lead. However, Bentley held on to win the final set, 25-10 and record a 3-0 victory over Southern.

The Owls will return to action on the road in Pleasantville, N.Y. in an NE10 matchup against Pace, on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7:00 pm.
