Ryad Benmessaoud Wins NE10 Rookie of the Week

NEW HAVEN, CONN.-- Southern Connecticut men's soccer standout Ryad Benmessaoud was named the Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for week nine announced on Monday Oct. 27, 2025. This is Benmessaoud's first Rookie of the Week and first weekly award of his career. 

Benmessaoud achieved a career milestone this week scoring his first goal and the first goal of the game against Saint Anselm College on Saturday Oct. 25 giving the Owls a 1-0 lead. Benmessaoud did not stop there as he assisted on the Owls third goal helping the team to a 4-1 win in Manchester, N.H. Benmessaoud's assist was his second of the season and ties him for second on the team with Samuel Nagy and Jake Novoshelski. 

Southern Connecticut is back in action on Tuesday Oct. 28 when they host Dominican University at 7 PM at Jess Dow Field for a non conference match up. The Owls then close out their season at home against Bentley on Saturday Nov. 1 in a NE10 match up starting at 4 PM.
