SCSU Field Hockey Falls To Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – Southern Connecticut field hockey lost to Bentley, 6-1, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Waltham, Mass. With the loss, Southern dropped to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the NE10 while Bentley improved to 6-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

Isabella Fölster scored the Owls only goal of the game, which came off an assist to leading scorer Taylor Leckey. Fölster's goal was her sixth of the season to go along with three assists for 15 points in her first 10 career games. Leckey picked her fifth assist of the season, which put her in a lead with Lindsey Onofrio for the team-high. Leckey also leads the team in goals (9) and points (23).

Rachel Miller and Lyndsay Troisi split the game in goal, with Miller recording two saves on four shots in the first half before Troisi stopped 4-of-8 down the stretch.

The Owls jumped out to a 1-0 lead with Fölster's goal just 7:17 into play. The Owls' inserter on the penalty corner put a shot on goal that was stopped by  Falcons defender Leckey collected the rebound and fed Fölster for the goal. Bentley scored four minutes later and took a 2-1 lead into the break. The Falcons scored three times in the second half to seal the win.

Southern returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 8 when it hosts Adelphi for a NE10 matchup at 5 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
