SCSU Women's Soccer Blanks Chestnut Hill, 1-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's soccer defeated Chestnut Hill, 1-0, in a non-conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the win, the Owls improved to 2-4-3 overall while the Griffins dropped to 3-6 on the season.

Frida Norret scored the Owls only goal with the assist going to Aimee Girard. Makenzi Pastreck got the nod in goal for her first career start and recorded five saves on her way to the shutout.

Norret scored in the 30th minute of play off a ball that caromed through a crowded box in front of the Chestnut Hill goal before settling on her foot. Girard took a free kick from in front of the Griffins bench and played it to the far post. The bar bounced off a body before finding the post and fell between Norret and a wide-open goal. Norret's goal was her team-leading second of the season while Girard picked up her first point of the season.

Pastrek made three saves in the game's first 10 minutes and made two in the second half. Her fifth of the day came inside of the final three minutes and denied Chestnut Hill on what would be their final bid to get on the scoreboard.

Southern resumes Northeast 10 Conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 8 when it travels to Springfield, Mass. to take on American International at 6 p.m.
