Season Recap
Southern opened the season unbeaten through nine games (7-0-2) and posted shutouts in each of its first seven. The Owls didn't allow a goal until a 1-0 loss at Franklin Pierce on Sept. 26. Highlights included a 7-0 win over Post and a 2-0 NE10 opener at Pace. After that opening weekend of conference play, Elizabeth Bishop, Makenzi Pastreck and Gigi Pena swept three of the four NE10 weekly awards.

October was tougher, with one-goal losses to Molloy and AIC and a 3-0 setback at Saint Anselm. Still, Southern held its ground against the league's best: 0-0 draws with Bentley and Adelphi and a 2-2 draw at Saint Michael's. On Oct. 28, the Owls won 1-0 at Assumption to clinch their first NE10 tournament berth since 2024.

Defense has defined the season. Southern has allowed 11 goals in 17 games and posted 11 shutouts.

Owls to Watch
  • Frida Norret: Team-high 17 points (6 goals, 5 assists). She scored the winner at Assumption that clinched the tournament berth. Norret ranks among the NE10's top 10 in points, shots and shots on goal. Bishop is in the top 10 in goals.
  • Elizabeth Bishop: Six goals, tied with Norret for the team lead.
  • Bella LaPerle: Five goals.
  • Makenzi Pastreck: Pastreck has 88 saves, a 0.68 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage. She has nine solo shutouts plus two shared ones. She ranks second in the NE10 in GAA, shutouts and save percentage.

Last Time Out vs. Bentley
The Owls have already slowed the Falcons once. On Oct. 9 at Jess Dow Field, Southern held then-top-five Bentley to a 0-0 draw. Pastreck made 14 saves, the most in a shutout in program history. Bentley comes in at 13-1-2 and ranked No. 15 nationally. Abi Hennessey, the program's new career goals leader, has 12 goals.

Owls in the NE10 Tournament
  • All-time: 9-18, with six semifinal trips and three championship-game appearances (2000, 2019, 2021).
  • Quarterfinals: 6-12. Southern's last quarterfinal win was a 2-1 upset of No. 1 SNHU in 2021, on the way to the final as a No. 8 seed.
  • Against Bentley: 0-1. The only tournament meeting was a 2-1 Bentley win in the 2002 quarterfinals.
  • As a No. 7 seed: Southern has won at a No. 2 seed before. It beat Merrimack 2-1 in 2004 and Stonehill 1-0 in 2019, and the 2019 team went on to the final.
