SCSU Field Hockey Tops Franklin Pierce, 4-2, In Regular-Season Finale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. —Southern Connecticut State University field hockey secured a 4-2 win over Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. The Owls improved to 9-9 overall and 6-6 in the NE10, while the Ravens fell to 7-9 overall and 6-6 in the conference. The win also clinched the No. 7 seed in the upcoming NE10 Championship tournament, set to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Sophomore forward Keana Criscuolo netted two goals while Isabella Folster and McKenzie Fairfax also scored. Fairfax's goal was the first of her SCSU career and came off a penalty stroke. Taylor Leckey, Natalia Fiato, Avery Vaccaro and Ruby Webb all had assists in the game.



The Owls outshot the Ravens 17-12, with goalkeeper Rachel Miller making seven saves in the win. Miller improved to 6-8-0 on the season.

The scoring began early for the Owls, as Folster scored her fifth goal of the season at 6:33, off a corner set. Webb started the play as the insertor, feeding Leckey. Leckey then sent a pass on goal that Folster picked up for the goal.  Fairfax added a penalty stroke goal at 41:10, and Criscuolo scored unassisted at 42:42 and on an assist from Avery Vaccaro at 44:19.

The Owls open NE10 Championship Tournament when they travel to tournament second-seeded Adelphi on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m.
