SCSU Men's Soccer Defeats Assumption 1-0

WORCESTER, MA-- Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team defeated Assumption University 1-0, in a Northeast 10 conference match-up in Worcester, Mass. With the win, the Owls improve to 2-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the NE10 conference. Assumption falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the NE10.

As the first half was winding down, the Owls offense woke up. Coming off his first goal of the season Tuesday, it was Edward Mensah who would continue his hot stretch.

Mensah's goal came with 46 seconds to go before the half, when Jeremy Martin headed to the corner. Martin's kick found Mensah directly in the middle of the box. Mensah headed the ball past the goalie in the top left corner of the goal bringing the owls lead to 1-0.

Southern is back in action on Tuesday Sept. 30 when they'll host Caldwell University in a non-conference match-up at 6:00pm at Jess Dow Field.
