SCSU Women's Soccer Drops Senior Day Match to Saint Michael's

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Women's Soccer lost a conference battle against Saint Michael's 4-1 on Senior Day. The Owls drop to 1-4-2 on the season. 

Elizabeth Bishop scored her first collegiate goal in the second half, and Julia Hargraves tallied her first ever assist. Abby Aughe collected eight saves in net. Graduating seniors Olivia Jones, Nicky Deslauriers, Mackenzie McCormack, Aimee Girard, Shelby Green, and Shianna Reeves were celebrated prior to the game. 

It was a defensive battle early on, but the Purple Knights were able to break the scoreless tie in the 18th minute, when Sarah Gormley put one past Aughe. The Owls had chances, with Shelby Green recording multiple shots, but were unable to score. 

The Owls offense came to life after halftime, and they were able to find the back of the net when Elizabeth Bishop headed in Julia Hargraves' corner kick. 

However, Saint Michael's came right back with a goal, and eventually scored two more before the final buzzer sounded. 

The Owls will travel to Flushing, N.Y. to take on Queens College on Wednesday, October 1st before heading back home for a Homecoming Weekend match against Adelphi on October 3rd.
