SCSU Field Hockey Falls To #1 Kutztown In Season Opener

MANSFIELD, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University field hockey took an 8-0 loss against NFHCA nationally ranked No. 1 Kutztown in Mansfield, Pa. Southern opened the year at 0-1 while Kutztown improved to 2-0.
 
The Owls and Golden Bears were the second game of the season-opening Dr. Art DeGenaro Classic Tournament played at Mansfield University.
 
Taylor Leckey had a program-record three defensive saves in the game and now stands at five for her career. In goal, Rachel Miller stopped 13 shots in the first half before Lyndsay Troisi entered the game at halftime. She stopped six over the final two quarters.
 
Southern is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 7 when they face national-ranked No. 9 Mansfield at 2 p.m.
