Lazar, Speckhard named NE10 Rookie and Diver of the Week

Southern Connecticut Men's Swimming and Diving standouts Daniel Lazar and Elliott Speckhard were named Northeast 10 Conference Rookie and Diver of the Week for the first time this season.

Lazar continued to build on a strong rookie season, when against the United States Merchant Marine academy he helped SCSU to a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The relay team of Lazar, Travis Scott, Ben Frazer and Jack Fry finished with a time of 1:27.10, while Lazar swam his leg in 21.97 second. Against Assumption, Lazar won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.64. That time ranks 25th in the NE10.

Along with Lazar, diver Elliott Speckhard had an impressive performance against Assumption. The sophomore diver won both one-and-three meter diving. On the one-meter board, Speckhard scored 251.85 points, which ranks 4th in the NE10. On the three-meter board, Speckhard scored 248.93 points which also ranks 3rd in the conference.
