The Mavericks controlled the attack for most of the first half, out shooting the Owls 6-3 before the horn. The control of the attack showed on the scoreboard when Connor Leahy found the back of the net in the 36th minute to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead which they took into the halftime break.

Coming out of halftime, the Owls came out firing as they took two shots in the first ten minutes of the half. The first was a strong chance for Owls forward Frida Norret, but the shot was denied for a save.

Norret fired a cross into the middle of the box, which met the head of Bella Laperle as she put the ball into the far side of the net to tie the game up at 1-1.
