SCSU Women's Track & Field Leads NE10 Indoor Championships Through Day 1

BOSTON, Mass. - Southern Connecticut women's track and field took a commanding lead through the first day of the 2025-26 Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass. The Owls won four individual championships (four Gold medals), three Silver medals and a bronze and totaled 93 points.  

Courtney Henchcliffe won the 5000 Meter Run, Maddie Hathorn captured the Gold in the Pole Vault, Deja Pitzpatrick-Bell won the Long Jump and the Distance Medley Relay team of Abigail Bajorek, Cedar Reilly, Rae Geddes and Erin Sola won the Owls' fourth Gold medal of the afternoon.  

5000 Meter Run 
Southern grabbed the top three spots in the 5000 Meter Run led by Henchcliffe's time of 17:39.67. Mckenzie David finished second at 18:02.78 to capture the Silver Medal and P.J. Dauphinais took the Bronze with a time of 18:07.04. Henchcliffe previously won the 5000 Meter Run Championship at the 2024 NE10 Indoor Championships.  

Distance Medley Relay 
Southern's DMR of Bajorek, Reilly, Geddes and Sola won the Gold with a time of 12:37.55, finishing ahead of Assumption's 12:58.69.  

Pole Vault 
Maddie Hathorn won her third-consecutive NE10 Indoor Pole Vault Championship with a mark of 3.40m, which was also Hathorn's personal best NE10 Championship Vault. Hathorn has also won the last two outdoor championships. Lily Quill took the Silver Medal with a second-place finish at 3.25m.   

Weight Throw 
Belle Smith won her second-straight NE10 Indoor Weight Throw Championship with a mark of 16.41m (53' 10 ¼"), which beat her previous mark of 16.27m. Smith also won the last two Indoor Shot Put Championships, as well as last year's Outdoor Shot Put and Hammer Throw. Celine Bozukluian won the Silver Medal with a mark of 15.70m (51' 6 ¼") for second place.  

Long Jump 
Deja Fitzpatrick-Bell won the Long Jump Championship with a mark of 5.47m (17' 11 ½"). Uliana Pokutnia finished fourth with a mark of 5.19m  (18' 0 ½").
