Matt Scalia Named NE10 Rookie of the Week

Southern Connecticut baseball standout Matt Scalia was named the Northeast 10 Conference's Rookie of the Week for Week 1 of the 2026 season. 

Scalia, a freshman from Northford, Conn., has been very impressive in his rookie season with the Owls. This weekend in Myrtle Beach, he batted .778 (7-9) over the Owls' last three games, totaling three RBIs and three runs scored. His three doubles lead the team and tie him for the third most in the NE10, and he is now batting .320 on the season.  

Scalia and the Owls are back in action this weekend, taking on Mercy in a three-game set.
