Women's Track & Field

Henchcliffe, Smith Named NE10 Athletes of the Week

Southern Connecticut women's indoor track & field took home two Northeast 10 Conference weekly awards for Week 5 of the 2025-26 season, with Courtney Henchcliffe named NE10 Track Athlete of the Week and Belle Smith named NE10 Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Courtney Henchcliffe, the 2025 NE10 Cross Country Runner of the Year, broke the program record in the 3000m with a time of 9:46.37 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic. The previous record had stood for 37 years, set by Kathy Milton in 1989. Henchcliffe's time also ranks 23rd in all of NCAA Division II, meeting the provisional mark.

Smith has dominated in her junior season, winning Field Athlete of the Week every week she has competed. This week, she placed fourth in the Weight Throw at the Harvard Invitational with a mark of 16.72m, also placing eighth in the Shot Put at 12.41m. Those marks would rank second and fourth in the NE10 this season. Smith holds the top throws in both events. She has now won Field Athlete of the Week seven times over the past two seasons.

The Owls will compete this weekend at UMass Lowell's Riverhawk Invitational at The Track at New Balance.
