Rheyna Steinauer Named to D2CCA All-Region Second Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut women's basketball standout Rheyna Steinauer earned 2025-26 D2CCA East Region Women's Basketball All-Region Second Team honors, as announced by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, on Thursday, March 12, 2026. This is the first D2CCA All-Region honor for Rheyna Steinauer in her career. Additionally, Rheyna Steinauer joins Shamika Jackson (2005-06, 2006-07), Coach Kate Lynch (2006-07, 2007-08), Jackie Beathea (2015-16), Kiana Steinauer (2018-19) and Delaney Haines (2024-25), who all earned D2CCA honors for the Owls during their careers.


Rheyna Steinauer continues to have an impressive season for Southern Connecticut. She was named to the Northeast 10 Conference First Team, for the first all-conference honors of her career. She helped the Owls advance all the way to the NE10 Championship game, where Southern Connecticut defeat no. 1 seed, Bentley to win their first NE10 title since 2007. So far this season, she has totaled 428 points, 166 rebounds, 66 assists, 25 steals, 12 blocks, owns a 43% field goal percentage and an 82% free-throw percentage. She was fifth in the NE10 in scoring with an average of 14.8 points per game, was ranked third in free-throw percentage with 82%, is fifth in three-point field goal percentage with 37% and has the most 30+ point performances in the conference this season, with three. In the 74-59 victory over American International, Steinauer recorded a career-best of 31 points, as she was 12-for-18 from the floor, was 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, was 3-for-3 from the free-throw line, grabbed five boards, had two assists and a steal against the Yellow Jackets. In the 88-63 victory over Saint Michael's, she had a team-best of 22 points, made a career-best of five three-pointers, had a career-best of six assists, four boards and a team-best of three steals against the Purple Knights. Steinauer earned NE10 Player of the Week on Feb. 13, 2026 and earned Fall 2025 NE10 Academic Honors.


The Owls will face no. 8 seed and NE10 opponent, Saint Michael's at 5:00 pm on Friday, March 13 in the James Moore Field House in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament East Regional.
