Gabriela Dinisoe and Abby Royer Advance To WCGNIC Individual Finals

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics finished third out of the three teams competing in Session II of the WCGNIC Championship Semifinals at West Chester University. The Owls posted a score of 191.875. Owls' standouts Gabriela Dinisoe and Abby Royer advanced to the Individual Finals on Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m. Dinisoe finished fifth with a season-best 9.800 on the Bars while Royer finished second in the Floor Exercise with a 9.850.

Texas Women's University won the second session with a score of 195.250, which was the highest of both sessions, followed by West Chester at 192.725. Both teams advance to the team finals on Saturday, March 28.

Dinisoe led Southern in the Uneven Parallel Bars and the Balance Beam events. In addition to her season-best tally on the Bars, Dinisoe was 10th on the Bars with a team-best 9.675. Royer was the Owls' highest finisher with a second-place routine in the Floor Exercise event with a score of 9.850.

Libby Allen led the Owls with 28.925 points, which was good for fifth among all gymnasts from the three teams in Session II. Hannah Fitzgerald totaled 28.475 points for eighth, and also posted season-best scores on the Vault and Bars, while Lola Sepulveda scored 27.900 points for 10th.



VAULT
Hannah Fitzgerald led the Owls on the Vault with a 9.725 to tie for ninth place while Allen posted a 9.700 for 12th. Sepulveda and Haley Fitzgerald posted scores of 9.575, which was Haley's season-best on the apparatus, while Ava Kelly rounded out the scoring with a 9.55.

BARS
Dinisoe posted a 9.675 for 10th place followed by Zoe Axell in 11th with Hannah Fitzgerald at 9.650, each. Grace Christensen had a season-best 9.625 while Gianna Schibi scored a 9.575.

BEAM
Dinisoe once-again led the Owls with a fifth-place finish on the Beam with a 9.800, her top score on the apparatus this season. Maria Chronopolous finished eighth at 9.725 while Allen tied for 13th with a 9.475.

FLOOR
The Owls' top event all season, the Floor Exercise unit was once-again led by Abby Royer with a 9.850 for second place. Allen tied for seventh with a 9.750 while Axell was tied for 12th with a 9.675. Kiersten Lewis scored a 9.650 in the event.
